Remedies for human rights violations in facilities for the disabled [2008] KRNHRC 19 (1 January 2008)

Lee and others, who worked for the Institution for the Disabled in Ulsan, Korea,
filed a complaint that , a social welfare corporation that operated the
Institution for the Disabled and a vocational rehabilitation center for the disabled, had
mistreated and beat the disabled, and forced the disabled in the institution to work.

After an investigation, the Commission found that the human rights of people with
disabilities in the facilities for the severely disabled, the Institution for the Disabled,
and the vocational rehabilitation center for the disabled managed by had long been
violated. It recommended that fire its executives and develop measures to improve
the human rights conditions of the facilities.
