National Human Rights Commission of Korea - Complaint Summaries |
Discrimination on the basis of gender refers to acts of favorably treating, excluding,
differentiating against or unfavorably treating a particular person or a group of people on
the ground of gender, without reasonable causes, in many areas including employment.
Discrimination based on gender includes intentional unequal treatment of one gender, in
other words, direct discrimination, without reasonable causes. Discriminatory acts can be
explicit or implicit. Furthermore, discrimination based on gender includes indirect
discrimination including neutral standards designed to be equally applied to both men and
women, but translated into results clearly unfavorable to one gender or proven to be unfair.
