DECISION No. 125/2002/QD-TTg of September 26, 2002 establishing Phuoc Binh Nature Conservation Zone, Ninh Thuan province To establish Phuoc Binh Nature Conservation Zone of Bac Ai district, Ninh Thuan province belonging to the system of Vietnam’s special-use forests. Total natural area of the Conservation Zone is 19,814 ha. Objectives and tasks of the Conservation Zone are: - To conserve the typical and original natural habitats of the ecological system of high mountain forests; - To conserve the bio-diversity and integrity of the ecological system with 15 species of endemic, rare and precious plants, 10 species of birds, 8 species of animals and 8 species reptiles of great value for scientific research and conservation of genetics resources; - To coordinate with BiDoup-Nui Ba Nature Conservation Zone, Lam Dong province, in maintaining and developing wild animals and plants, and at the same time to contribute to raising the headwater protection capability of the whole Ninh Thuan province; - To contribute to conserving the cultural and revolutionary historic values of the area inhabited by ethnic minority people, which used to be resistance base in the resistance wars against the French colonialists and American imperialists of the Central Highlands and Southern Central Vietnam.- (Summary)
