DECISION No. 1169/QD-TTg of August 30, 2001 on organizing teams of young medical workers who volunteer to participate in rural and mountainous development To organize teams of young medical workers with a total of 500 graduates from medical universities, colleges or intermediate schools who volunteer to participate in rural and mountainous development at health stations in especially difficult communes of 25 provinces for 24 months as from 2001 to 2003. Teams of volunteer young medical workers are tasked to help communes in care for and protection of people’s health; training and fostering of health workers in localities; to participate in stepping up activities of uniting, gathering and educating youngsters in localities; build new cultural life, prevent and combat social evils. The presidents of the People’s Committees of the provinces where such teams of volunteer young medical workers come to work shall have to combine this program with the Government’s hunger elimination and poverty alleviation program in their localities in order to well organize the implementation of the above-said tasks.- (Summary)
