DECISION No.299-TTg OF MAY 13, 1996 OF THE PRIME MINISTER ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE CENTRAL STEERING COMMITTEE FOR PREVENTION AND FIGHT AGAINST FLOODS AND STORMS The Central Steering Committee for Prevention and Fight Against Floods and Storms is tasked to assist the Government in: urging and inspecting all branches and localities to work out and implement annual projects and plans on prevention and fight against floods and storms; ordering the mobilization of human resources and facilities for timely aid in emergency cases which are beyond the capability of branches and localities; directing the afflicted localities to overcome consequences of floods and storms; reviewing the work of prevention and fight against floods and storms, and popularizing experiences as well as scientific and technical advances in the prevention and fight against floods and storms to various branches and localities. The Central Steering Committee for Prevention and Fight Against Floods and Storms is headed by the Minister-Chairman of the Vietnam Mekong River Committee. Its Deputy Heads and members shall be a number of Vice Ministers of some specific ministries, the General Directors or Deputy General Directors of a number of General Departments.- (Summary)
