Decision No.498-TTg of July 7, 1997 on the establishment of the National Committee for Food Security.

To establish the National Committee for Food Security for coordinating the operations of the concerned branches, levels and organizations in the implementation of the national policies on food security and the promotion of external cooperation in respect of food security.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development shall act as the Chairman of the National Committee for Food Security. The Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the State Bank, the National Reserve Department, the Vietnam Peasants’ Association and the Vietnam Women’s Union, each shall nominate one of its leading officials to join the Committee.-
