Decree No.52-CP of May 26, 1997 on the readjustment of administrative boundaries of a number of communes, wards, townships of the districts of Tuan Giao, Dien Bien, Phong Tho and Muong Lay as well as Dien Bien Phu provincial town of Lai Chau province.

To dissolve the township of Tam Duong State farm in Phong Tho district, the township of Dien Bien State farm in Dien Bien district and the township of Muong Ang State farm in Tuan Giao district.

To establish Muong Ang township of Tuan Giao district on the basis of a land area of 502 hectares and a population of 2,900 from Ang Nua commune.

To establish Si Pa Phin commune of Muong Lay district on the basis of a land area of 27,098 hectares and a population of 4,789 from Cha Nua commune.

To merge Thanh Binh ward newly set up on the basis of a land area of 64.5 hectares and a population of 1,622 from Thanh Luong commune, Dien Bien district, into Dien Bien Phu provincial town.- (Summary)
