DECISION No.87/1998/QD-TTg of April 27, 1998 on the setting up of the Team for External Economics Studies. To set up the Prime Minister's Team for External Economics Studies, which is headed by Mr. Dau Ngoc Xuan. The Team is tasked to study then propose to the Prime Minister the general strategy and policy on external economics and issues related to Vietnam's joining and operation in the Association of South-East Asian Nations, the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA), the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), the World Trade Organization, the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum and other international or regional economic and trade organizations; as well as on the negotiations for Vietnam-US Trade Agreement; to analyze and evaluate the international economic-trade cooperation; to propose the Prime Minister to readjust and amend the outmoded policies, formulate new policies in order to renovate and promote the external economic activities; to give its comments to draft laws, ordinances, decrees and a number of important plans for the international economic-trade cooperation drawn up by the concerned ministries and branches at the request of the Prime Minister or the Deputy Prime Ministers.- (Summary) |
