DECISION No. 170/2002/QD-TTg of November 27, 2002 upgrading Bu Gia Map Nature Conservation Zone in Binh Phuoc province into Bu Gia Map National Park To upgrade Bu Gia Map Nature Conservation Zone in Binh Phuoc province into a national park belonging to the system of Vietnam’s special-use forests. Bu Gia Map National Park is in the northwestern region of Binh Phuoc province in the administrative areas of Dac O and Bu Gia Map communes of Phuoc Long rural district. Bu Gia Map National Park has a total area of 26,032 ha. Bu Gia Map National Park has the following objectives and tasks: - To preserve rare and precious gene sources of flora and fauna system, as well as the model ecological system of tropical rain forests of ever-green trees and deciduous trees on hills and mountains of under 1,000 meters high, which typify the transition from the Central Highlands to the eastern south Vietnam delta region. - To protect the headwater protection forests for reservoirs of Thac Mo and Can Don hydro-electric power projects. - To serve the work of scientific research, environmental education and eco-tourist development. - To build up technical and material bases for the conservation, training, scientific research, environmental education and eco-tourist development, contributing to the socio-economic development and creating jobs for local population communities. The People’s Committee of Binh Phuoc province shall directly manage Bu Gia Map National Park.- (Summary)
