DECISION No. 167/2002/QD-TTg of November 25, 2002 upgrading Kon Ka Kinh Nature Conservation Zone in Gia Lai province into Kon Ka Kinh National Park To upgrade Kon Ka Kinh Nature Conservation Zone in Gia Lai province into a national park belonging to the system of Vietnam special-use forests. Kon Ka Kinh National Park is in the northeastern region of Gia Lai province within the administrative boundaries of Dak Roong, Kroong and Kon Pne communes (Kbang rural district), Ha Dong commune (Dac Doa rural district) and Ayun commune (Mang Yang rural district). The National Park covers a total area of 41,780 ha. The National Park has the following objectives and tasks: - To preserve the model ecological system of tropical rain forest of ever-green trees, especially 2,000 ha of mixed forests of broad-leafed trees and coniferous trees, and wild flora and fauna on Plei Ku highlands. - To protect the headwater protection forests of rivers in the region, ensuring environmental security and sustainable development. - To build up technical and material bases in service of training, scientific research, environ-mental education and eco-tourist development, thus contributing to socio-economic development and creating jobs for local population communities. The People’s Committee of Gia Lai province shall directly manage Kon Ka Kinh National Park.- (Summary)
