- The Courts adjudicate criminal and civil cases (including civil disputes; family and marriage disputes; commercial and trade disputes; labor disputes); and administrative cases.
- The Courts settle civil matters (including civil claims; family and marriage claims; commercial and trade claims; labor claims); settle a request for declaring an enterprise bankrupt; consider and conclude whether a strike is legitimate or not.
- The Courts settle other matters as are specified by law (making a decision on an application for provisional measures during the process of settling commercial disputes by arbitration; making a decision on enforcement of criminal judgments; staying or temporarily suspending a sentence; making a decision on exemption from serving a sentence or reduction of a declared sentence; making a decision on annulment of a sentence record, etc.)
- The Courts have the duty to protect the socialist rule of law; to protect socialism and the People’s right to mastery; to protect the State and collective assets; to protect life, property, freedom, honor and dignity of the citizens.
- Through their own activities, the Courts contribute to the training of citizens to be loyal to the Fatherland, seriously obey the law, show respect for principles of social life, and be aware of the struggle against and prevention of crime and other breaches of law.
