Main tasks and practical skills:
- It is necessary to prepare personnel and draft dossiers for the person to be selected and appointed a Judge (Part III of Inter-Circular No. 01/2003/TTLT-TANDTC-BQP-BNV-UBTWMTTQVN dated 01 April 2003 of the Supreme People’s Court, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Home Affairs, and Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front providing guidelines on implementation of a number of provisions of the Ordinance on Judges and Assessors of the People’s Courts.
- Judges of the Supreme People’s Court and Central Military Tribunal must be selected by the authorized Judges Selection Council and appointed by the State President. Judges of the People’s Courts of provinces and cities directly under central authority, and Judges of the People’s Courts of districts, prefectures, townships or cities under provinces; and Judges of the Regional Military Tribunals and their equivalent and Area Military Tribunals must be selected by the authorized Judges Selection Council and appointed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Courts (Articles 26, 27 and 28 of the Ordinance on Judges and Assessors of the People’s Courts).
